Mother/Daughter Banquet

Me and Ashley , My borrowed daughter :)
Roxanne and I, she is with my Sunday School Class .

Saturday before mother's day , our church always have a mother and daughter banquet. It's really nice though. For the last 4 and half years that I have been attending this church. I have been to three banquets. The last two was very nice. We have our men who serve as "waiters" . They even wear something that a waiter in an expensive restaurants wore, with matching neck ties. All of us ( women, ladies, girls ) do is simple sit. As we arrived the fellowship hall. Our waiter( men at church ) will usher us to our table.

This year's event is really different. We have a caterer. So instead of just waiting for our foods and drinks to be served, we have to get it ourselves. But still it was fun to have fellowship with the mothers and your sisters in the Lord. The couple who organized this event cannot do this, this year as they are getting ready for their mission trip to Afghanistan. Yes, they are going to live there with their 3 sons.

We started this year's event at the sanctuary, with singing and listening to the word of God. Our speaker was Brandi Mccants. She speaks about spending quite time with the Lord. In our busy world today, we seem to forget having an intimate fellowship with the Lord. We always put aside our quiet time, saying we do not have time. I myself is guilty of doing this. I am busy with work and lately, I stayed most of my time in the computer doing with blogging , and other stuff. How could I say I don't have time when I wasted so much time in front of the computer? As a christian woman , I have to make sure that I spend time with the Lord in my quiet time.

After eating the spiritual food, we went to the fellowship hall and enjoy the foods and the comic fashion show that our ladies have prepared. We had a great time.

It's Mothers Day Weekend

This time of year, I always wish I live near my parents. So I could spend some quality time with my mother. It has been 5 years that I have not seen my mother. Isn't it wonderful to spend some time with the most amazing woman in your life? I always grateful for my mother. She took care of us, and discipline us. Here's a beautiful poem about a mother .

A mother is special.
She's as soft and graceful as a butterfly,
yet as strong and courageous
as a grizzly bear.
Her heart is large enough to hold
everyone's pain and joy.
Her hands are always gentle and soothing.
Her arms are always warm and tender.
She works hard to make a
home feel like home,
and she strives to make life pleasant
and comfortable for those she loves.
She never fails to go that extra mile to
make the holidays happy and memorable.
Her job is the most difficult and
demanding ever known to any human being,
yet she's fully dedicated to the task.
She's always there for her family,
guiding them and keeping them safe from harm.
She owns a magical way to raise
spirits and make everything feel better.
And her sympathy, unselfishness
and forgiveness are unending.
All that anyone is or could ever hope to be
can be attributed to a mother.
She instills the teachings
that will last a lifetime.
She sows the seeds of virtue and morality,
and in the process, she opens up love
and vast horizons.
She's always watching and hoping that
her children's goals will have meaning.
She always listens and tries to understand
even when it's difficult to do so.
She's a true friend in every sense of the word.
She's noble and sublime,
and holds all the beauty of a golden day,
yet even during the storms,
she always shines bright like an evening star.
Her name should be honored well,
for she's the closest thing to God on earth.
To ALL Mother, Happy Mothers Day!
