My Not So Nice Experience at Victoria Secret Store
My husband and I went to the Mall of America today. We were planning to be there as early as possible, but my husband didn’t get home until 11 am . He went to a men’s breakfast at church this morning. We arrived at the mall around 12 noon. I asked him to give me his Christmas wish lists, so that I wouldn’t have a problem buying gifts for him. Yes Christmas gifts are supposed to be a surprise but he wants to give me his lists. he he he .
While he was looking what he wants to be included in his Christmas lists, we separated ways because I wanted to buy something for myself. I went to Victoria Secret to buy something. When I paid the items, the cashier asked me if I have an Angel Card, I said I have but I don’t want to use it. I wanted to use my debit card instead. And besides I don’t really want to use a credit card. She wasn’t happy when I did not use my Angel Card ( which by the way a Victoria Secret CC ). After the transaction, she slammed the bag infront of me. Then I said, “oh that is mean”. Then she said , WHAT? I left the counter and went to the manager and told him that one of their cashier was being mean to me. And instead of just leaving the store, I told the manager that I am going to return the items that I just bought. I really did return the items and he refunded my card.
I noticed that the cashier was not friendly to the customer ahead of me either. I was like, is she mad at the foreign people? The person ahead of me was an Asian too. Oh well! I still want to buy VS products though, but not at the store that I went today!

How rude she was! I wonder how they can hire someone like that. Retail is supposed to be a customer service based business. Good for you returning your items.

You are Christian and go to Victoria’s Secret?!?! I’m sorry, but I find that disgraceful, giving God’s provision to a porno store like that. ![]()

Hi HealthNut Mom, I believe if you work in a retail store, you should be friendly to your customer. If there’s no customer, no jobs then no paycheck ![]()

I came back to apologize for my graceless outburst. I was just so surprised because I have beem reading your blog and I do think you are a Prov 31 woman!!
VS is definitely a seedy business. Their magazines are porno, and they make porn videos with their models. I can’t remember who owns them, but they are not friendly to Christians at all, kind of like Hugh Hefner– they mock Christianity.

Classic example of racism. I bet you this person has never travelled outside the United States. It shows in her ignorance.
Down with racist behavior.
Go Pinays:-)

Hi Rebecca, Thanks for coming back. I didn’t really know that they are a porno store. I don’t read or subscribe their magazine either. SO I guess from now on NO MORE VS for me.

Hi Beth! It’s great to be here!
That is a rather bad experience. Some people aren’t just happy with their lives that work gets affected. But then, there is no excuse for RUDENESS.
I think the store owner should suck that girl! She shouldn’t be there in the first place. She’s a frontliner and acting that way won’t get her anywhere, and VS is definitely no place for her.
You did the right thing. I find it rather disturbing that racism still exist in a hegemonic country like the US where the shout for equality is always being adhered to by most Americans, tsk! tsk! tsk!

What a great post! I’m glad you returned your items I think sometimes we put up with too much from people. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but that doesn’t mean she sure take it out on her customers. Oh and for what it’s worth I don’t think Victoria’s Secret is porn! I’m sure you can shop there no matter what your religious beliefs are, it’s not like it’s you in the catalog!

Hi Emily, I think you’re right that she was just having a bad day. She was also being rude to an Asian girl ahead of me. But it’s ok.

That was rude of her.
Good for you for returning their products. I would do the same if it happened to me. The manager should kick her out.

Twinks, thanks for the comment.I think she’ll be in trouble with the manager. Even if she has bad day that time, I don’t think she’ll treat her customer in a rude way.

Telling the manager what she did is just the right thing to do. Serves her right! No one deserves to be treated that way.

Hi sis,
I am a regular customer of VS, and I couldn’t believe they could treat u like that. What did the manager say? My hubby trains customer service, and he said the good thing to do is get to the manager, and tell him he has to do something about his people’s attitude. Hubby is so much sensitive to that.Cguro pag asawa ko ginanun, lagot cya!
Anyway, sometimes we have to be blunt to let them know they are not pleasing customers but driving them away!
Sorry for the bad experience sis…cguro may monthly period yung kahera LOL!

Good for you to return those items! That’s just rediculous that she acted that way toward you and the other lady. That’s horrid. I hope the store there improves and gets better help. The cashiere should be grateful she even has a job in this economy!

Quite rude. Just wanted to add that someone having a bad day and acting rude doesn’t mean that they don’t like foreigners ![]()
If you’re looking for racism, you’ll find racism. (Not saying that racism is nonexistent)

That’s so rude of the cashier. When foreigners go here in our own country, we are so hospitable to them. The favor should be returned. Tsk2.

I am a FORMER employee of victorias secret. And I have no doubt as to the truth of what you experienced at that store. I have often been dismayed by the personalities that are hired at my former store. And to make it worse, I can officially say that the MAJORITY of district managers and store managers don’t care about customer complaints. They care about hitting their sales numbers. They abuse their employees by making sure to only follow labor laws as much as they have to. I was personally taunted at and told that ‘we really don’t even have to give you any break, because indiana doesn’t have any labor laws’
This is a sad case. Because the company offers an amazing product. But their workers are told it’s a privelege to work there, and unfortunately many forget the essence of sales- you are only there for the customer.
